Tour

marching into march

We are heading out to slightly warmer (and then much warmer) climates this coming month! We’re pretty jazzed to be touring in Florida for the first time as part of the Listening Room Festival. If you have friends in the area, please let them know where we will be! Spring seems to bring a cavalcade of new music, and we’re excited for new releases from amazing Canadian songwriters like Rose Cousins and Sarah Harmer! We are also working on new music, but what we’ve got won’t be ready until around about autumn. Keep your eyes peeled!

autumn shows & video

We’re swinging through a few towns this autumn, catching the changing of the colours as we play a bunch of duo shows and one rare full-band show near Toronto! We hope you can join us or help spread the word about our upcoming shows. We’re also excited to share a video we shot in Hamilton as part of the Unicorn Project — it’s a rare cover of “Into The Mystic” captured by the good folks at Soundstill Production. We don’t perform many cover songs, but this one is near and dear to our hearts, and we hope you enjoy it!

hibernation & also some touring: winter!

Happy Holidays! Besides the obvious snow fort construction that we hope will rival the Great Pyramid of Giza, winter is kind of wonderful for hunkering down in a studio and creating some new recordings. That is mainly what we are doing this winter, with a few breaks to poke our heads out and play some shows. We are actually kicking the year off with some full-band shows in Ottawa, Tamworth, and our first full-band show in the United States (in Cooperstown NY!) on Saturday January 21st. Wish us luck! We are also planning to head to Kansas City in February…    read more.

autumn tour of ontario & quebec, with gabrielle papillon!

We’ve been lying low a bit for September and October, enjoying the autumnal goodness, apple cider, and occasional leaf-kicking adventure. Now it’s time to hit the road again and play some more music for wonderful folks, this time we’ll be doing a mix of duo and full band shows with a fellow folkie and great friend of ours: Gabrielle Papillon! We are very excited to be touring with Gabrielle in November, she’s a phenomenal singer-songwriter: multi-talented and award-winning to boot. So take a look at our tour schedule (handily posted below!) and if you can’t come to a show then…    read more.

back from tour & in love with autumn

Touring is amazing, but we are glad to be home and ready to have a love affair with autumn. We enjoyed some old-fashioned east coast hospitality on our tour, and we’d like to say a big thank you to all the folks who shared a floor, a meal, a stage, or a sing-along with us along the way! Going on tour is like an extended marathon of good times, and it was fantastic to be able to share those times with such great people. Double kudos go out to our drummer Mike, his wife Eileen, and their 4-month-old daughter Broghan…    read more.

summertime on the east coast

Nothing says summer like getting in a van with limited AC with several sweaty humans and making some goddamned music!  If some crimes get solved along the way, all the better.  But this band actually began with a 2009 tour to the east coast in late August, and I’ll be swobbered in the klootch-sac if we don’t seem to get a hankering to head east in the late August of each and every year.  If you’ve never visited Atlantic Canada you are missing out on some of the friendliest folks on the planet.  We have always enjoyed an extreme level…    read more.

from owen sound to trois-rivieres…

It sounded like we were dragging a chunk of Stonehenge behind us every time we hit the brakes. But that didn’t stop us from pulling into beautiful Owen Sound to play for the Otherfolk festival, which featured performances by bands like Elliott Brood and Bruce Peninsula. We were clearly outclassed, but the vibe was amazing and we watched Aaron Mangoff and The Morals play fantastic sets before we went to Rocky Raccoon’s to set up and play. The audience was amazing, giving a great singalong for “in your defense” and calling for an encore. The next day we woke up…    read more.
